To do before I die

I have this list. It’s a long list, with 100 things on it that I would like to do, see or experience in my lifetime. I’ve crossed a few items off already, but I have a long way to go …

1. Tour Europe, including England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands and Spain
2. Visit Belen - the girl I sponsor - in Peru
3. Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
4. Go skydiving
5. Write a book
6. Go to Antarctica
7. Get married barefoot, possibly in a field or on a beach
8. Work on a political campaign
9. Tour Africa, including Rwanda, Sudan, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt and Uganda
10. Attend a Stanley Cup hockey game
11. Visit Anne Frank’s house
12. Ride in a helicopter
13. Do humanitarian work in Darfur
14. Attend the Toronto International Film Festival, either as media or viewer
15. Read and watch everything by Ted Dekker
16. Go parasailing
17. Run a marathon, possibly for charity
18. Learn French or Spanish
19. Participate in City Chase
20. Climb a palm tree
21. Visit Asia, including Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand
22. Drive on the autobahn
23. Publish a collection of my poetry
24. Visit South America, including Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Chile
25. Take web design classes
26. Own a boat
27. Visit Australia, thus accomplishing my next goal to …
28. Visit every continent
29. Have at least three kids
30. Learn to sail
31. Intern with the National House of Prayer
32. See U2 in concert
33. Visit every province and territory
(been to every province, just need to go to the Yukon and Nunavut)
34. Get involved in politics, either as a staffer or councillor or Member of Parliament
35. Start my own photography business
36. Stand on the equator
37. See Queen Elizabeth
38. Own season tickets to the Ottawa Senators
39. Go hang gliding
40. Visit Victoria Falls
41. Visit every U.S. state, including Hawaii and Alaska (I’ve been to at least half of them)
42. Send a message in a bottle
43. Learn Hebrew – not to speak fluently, but just to have a general grasp of the language
44. Officially meet the prime minister
(I’ve seen him, but I didn’t introduce myself cause I was afraid the security guys would take me out) 
45. Smuggle Bibles
46. Hitchhike somewhere
47. Learn to enjoy cooking
48. Go to Mount Everest
(I have no illusions of ever being able to climb it, but just seeing it up close would be cool)
49. Take art classes and do acrylic and mixed media painting
50. Ride a camel in the Sahara Desert
51. Walk on the Great Wall of China
52. Watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy right after each other
53. Take flying lessons
54. Go to Timbuktu
55. Visit Israel
56. Be a foreign correspondent overseas for a media organization
57. Take singing and/or guitar lessons
58. Go ziplining
59. See a live Broadway show

60. Read all Francine Rivers and Angela Hunt books
61. Buy a house before I’m 30
62. Visit Stonehenge
63. Write a memoir
64. Do a road trip tour of major churches in North America
65. Get something published in Up Here magazine
66. Drive through the English Channel tunnel
67. Take or audit political science and history classes
68. Go up the CN Tower … it’s so sad that I’ve never been!
69. Research my genealogy
70. Stand on the Greenwich meridian line
71. Go water skiing
72. Do a major canoe trip that includes portages between rivers
73. Write my name in wet cement
74. Go surfing in Hawaii or Australia
75. Freelance for a national magazine
76. Hike in the rainforest
77. See a polar bear
78. Go on an Africa safari – in Africa (I’ve been on one in Mexico – it just didn’t feel right …) 
79. Swim, err, float in the Dead Sea
80. Visit the Lord of the Rings set in New Zealand
81. Watch the Star Wars movies in a marathon
82. Go white water rafting
83. Learn how to rock climb
84. Hike the Grand Canyon
85. Go kite surfing or skiing … or both
86. Go up in a hot air balloon
87. Spend a week exploring New York City
88. Hike part or all of the West Coast Trail
89. Take dance classes

90. Meet Kurt Browning and scream like a 12-year-old girl fan, because I was, I’m not going to lie
91. Send a question to a Strong Bad email
92. Go to Baffin Island
93. Send a secret to PostSecret
94. Attend an Olympic Games, as a volunteer, reporter or fan
95. Win an OCNA award for one of my stories or photos
96. Visit the Pyramids
97. Own a Volkswagen vehicle – an old-school hippie van would be ideal for the road trips
98. Start a charity foundation
99. Work at an orphanage in South America
100. Fulfill the destiny that God has for me

    the anne frank huis is definitely an amazing place to visit. went there when i went to europe to visit liam in 2007. you should also add belgium to your list of places to tour to on your european tour! some of these tasks would be awesome – i’ll join you on some of your adventures! :)

    Wow, Cheryl, I’ve never read your list before. It’s quite the list, eh? Very neat things on it. I was thinking – about the publishing poetry thing… wouldn’t it be neat to put together a book of various writings that the cousins have done? So many of us have done writing/poetry. What do you think?
