Five periods later …

Turning the TV on at 10:30 p.m. was not a good idea considering my plan to catch up on sleep tonight. Within about three minutes I was fully engrossed in the third period of the Detroit – Pittsburgh game. Now the second overtime period just ended and I’m not having any trouble staying awake … this is intense hockey!

First, the Red Wings came back to take the lead on home ice. Then, the Penguins tied up the fifth game of the series with 35 seconds left in the last period. Two overtimes later, the match is still undecided. The Stanley Cup is in the building tonight, but the Pens are fighting hard for a chance to even out the series.

Marc-Andre Fleury is definitely my hero of the day. What a phenomenal goalie … he is playing fabulously tonight and I am very impressed. Now, if all the Penguins were playing that well, they might have won the game by now.

GO, PENS, GO!

UPDATE, 12:50 a.m.: The Stanley Cup was put away for another day …

The Penguins finally pulled their power play together and Petr Sykora scored to win game five. They’ll be back on home ice on Wednesday.

That was definitely worth losing an hour of sleep over. That was some good hockey, right there.

Don’t forget to mention about how the Detroit fans were rockin’ in the third, but didn’t say anything throughout OT. Or, you could just read it at my blog at http://theryancokeexperience.wordpress.com (shameless plug, I know).

What a hockey game…. It was worth the less than 5 hour sleep time….. Yeeeessssss…..

    Now… Wednesday….

Ryan has guaranteed that either way, the away team will win the cup. So if Wings don’t win tomorrow, Pens will have the cup. Lez see what happens…

    Pens suck
    Wings don’t.

I think both factors combined for a Wings win.
