Observations of a News Junkie

It looks like the entire Fritzl family will be given new identities, which I think is absolutely the right thing to do. There are very few photos of them out there – most are of just Josef - so hopefully they will be able to fade out of the spotlight sooner rather than later.

It would be nice for them to have a chance to get on with their lives … it seems the paparazzi is still surrounding the facility they are being treated at, effectively keeping them captives once again. Hey, I’m media, so I can completely understand their reason for sticking around. But I’m siding with Elisabeth Fritzl on this one; she’s been through horrible things and she deserves the chance at something better for herself and her family.

The Canadian Press reported that Fritzl acted alone; there is no evidence to point to an accomplice … though it’s still curious how he managed to build the security features and house in that cellar on his own. It is good news, though, that no one else is as disturbed as he is and helped with such terrible actions.
