The sickening saga

Just when I thought the story of Josef Fritzl couldn’t get any worse, this is what appeared in the news yesterday. I am so distrubed by the extreme depravity in human nature … that someone could actually commit these acts. There are obvious mental health problems in this situation.

As the story unfolds, it seems not only did the Austrian keep his daughter captive for 24 years, get her pregnant and abuse her, but he also wanted to have children with Elisabeth, became addicted to the incest and tried to pretend they were a normal family. If that wasn’t enough, it was reported that Fritzl also frequented a brothel, where he had some pretty sick requests.

I’m not entirely sure why I’m blogging about this again, since am I more disturbed with every news story I read. I guess it’s nice to see people writing and commenting on something with the same viewpoint; no one is defending him except maybe his lawyer, and all he’s doing is claiming his client is insane – the only rational thing to do after Fritzl’s confession. I appreciate the fact that people across the globe can agree that this kind of thing is absolutely wrong, sickening and evil. There’s no controversy or dissent over this incident, no symphathy for Fritzl anywhere.

And yet, somehow … “God so loved the world …” which I believe means every person in it.
Don’t ask me to explain it, because I can’t. He’s God, not me.

Even if he is insane he should be punished so that any other phycho would not dare to even think this sort of crualty. He should be put in that cellar and starve to death for the rest of his life.If god is there i pray that fritzl should get the highest punishment that no human being could ever imagine .

I think it’s interesting when you bring the concept of free will into the equation.
One of the biggest metaphysical questions out there is: if God is all powerful how can he let bad things happen?
The story about the Austrian incestuous father is case in point.
One of the problems with free will is that sometimes people choose to do awful things, which then brings the concept of repentance and redemption into play.

One can be clinically insane and still not be deemed “insane” under the criminal law definition of the term. There are several tests used to determine insanity, and I won’t elaborate them here. Suffice it to say that a “disease of the mind” is merely one of the elements.

So Fritzel should take his mental illness and die in jail.
